Hi all,

I currently run my mediaportal install from my pc which is connected to my tv. However sometimes I would like to use my laptop to play my movies etc if Im doing something on my pc and my other half wants to watch something.

Is there a way that I can install mediaportal on my laptop and point it to the mediaportal database on my pc?

Many thanks
Alc

Assuming you have a home network already setup, you would share the folder on the PC that holds the videos, then configure that location as the videos location in MP Config on the laptop. But no, you cannot "share" one configuration between the two.

Even if I were to sync mediaportal files between the two locations? Where does mediaportal store the details for movingpictures and mytvseries? is it a database or ini file or something?

Also where is the config stored? is it in the registry or an ini or similar?

thank you very much for your input

The databases are stored here: C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Database

Excellent, thats great thank you very much

    a few more questions:

    1)

If i wanted to move a mediaportal install with config etc to another machine or back it up for redeployment at a later datr, what files would I need to copy?

    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal

    any others?

    2)

Is there an easy way to convert the paths in the databases to unc paths? ie if it was a text file I could do a search replace for

    D:\Movies

    and replace with

    \\Alc\D\Movies

    Many thanks
