Hi there,
i am using moving pictures for a while now and it is working absolute flawless.
Because i want to switch Windows Home Server Configuration to manage my Mediafiles i will have to build up a new Moving Pictures database.

For movies listed at the IMDB that should be no problem with the nfo scraper.
But i also have Movies that are not listed at the IMDB, such like documentations and TV Recordings.

Now it is no problem putting a cover for them into the folder so Moving pictures could recognize that, but what about infos like Title, Genre etc.

I know i could do that manually inside the Moving Pictures Configuration, but isnt there also a way where i could write a simple textfile that is scanned by Moving Pictures to fill that info automatically? So i could just prepare the folders, put them on the WHS and let Moving Pictures do the rest?

Yes it's possible but it would require your own custom scraper script. Maybe an easier way is to make sure you store the movie data in the XBMC nfo xml format and use the XBMC scraper to read the movie data.

edit: just wondering.. do you want to start clean or is there a change in paths/shares occurring when you switch to WHS? Moving Pictures can detect if you moved files over to another share.

I will start a completely clean collection ripping all the stuff i have on DVD's to the WHS.

The idea with the XMBC NFO's sounds good to me. I am wondering that there is nothing like this import/export format in moving pictures, didnt anybody needed something like this till now?

yes the question has been raised several times but we don't have our own export format (yet). Instead we delivered this very flexible scriptable datasource that would allow you to read from everything you like ;)

And there are existing tools available on the forum that allow you to generate NFO files for your existing library. The fact it is not included inside the MovingPictures plugin does not mean nobody else thought about a solution before today.

    So just tried it.
I generated an nfo File according to the XMBC Wiki and edited it with Notepad++, and see there it is working.
The only thing is that the data dosent get auto approved by Moving Pictures, i have to go to the config and approve it by myself. Is there a way to change that behavior?
