Advice folder structure (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a question about what the best folder structure is to store your media to keep the access time low?

for example:

drive:/music/album/music.mp3

or

drive:/music/artist/album/music.mp3

Any suggestions?

that depends on how many folders you have. i'm a great fan of album coverart and that is not that easy when several albums are in one artist folder.

if you have severals artist with 5+ albums i would make a single folder for that!

another possibility is to spilt your album collection in A-E, F-J etc. folders to improve speed.

but it's not speed optimized :lol:

To give you more ideas, mine is like this :

Genre/Artist/Album/Track. Artist - Title.mp3

When a genre gets overcrowded (In general beyond 100 artists) I try to creat new genres to diminish the load.
