With his patch we would be able to define all end user customization in one file. Combined with String.Equals I see a lot of potential.
At the moment we are restricted to a skin wide control of visibility with the help of an import XML and dummy controls. But with his patch we can control all tags and skip those dummy visibility controls.
There would also be more consistency across the different skin; the end users would have the same filename/one file to modify the predefined user customization options in each skin.
I think we should try convincing the MediaPortal developers to reconsider adding this patch.
