I have all my album art stored in ID3 tags. I think they are all ID3V2. When I go to Now Playing, MP looks up the album and if does not find my album it copies correctly the album art from the tag to the thumbs\music\albums folder.

However, if it finds the album but does not find a cover, it does not copy the ID3 tag album art (which displays perfectly in all other music applications).

In some cases, it starts off with the album art from my ID3 tag and then replaces it with the cover it finds online!

Does the lookup take precedence over the ID3 tag, even though I have configured the music to use cover art from the ID3 tag and not folder.jpg?

How can i tell MP to use my ID3 tag album art?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Disable the internet lookups in the now playing configuration or write protect your thumbs\music\* directories.

The music database scan has a meaningful option to use the coverart from tags.

Of course this does not have high priority: even if some apps seem to ignore that the ID3 coverart are restricted to 64x64px while MP's lookups try to use 300px or 500px.

Thanks for the heads up about the music scan. I was just using shares so I hadn't done one! DUH! I deleted the existing music thumbs, configured MP to create thumbs from the ID3 tags and voila, it works perfectly. Before, it was showing my ID3 tag until it did the lookup and created the thumb. So it was not actually overwriting files. My bad!

Now, is there any way I can get MORE coverart to display? It's greedy, but I often have the back covers, artist photos, inserts etc. and I would love them all to display in Now Playing!

Congrats on the VAST improvement to the music database. It is fantastic and I am loving using it. The performance is so much better it is amazing.

I posted in another thread about using the Play function in playlists. I can press OK to select a track but I cannot press Play (or use P) to either play a whole playlist or a track within the playlist. As a result, it does not jump directly to the Now Playing screen, which I love. Is this a bug, intended, likely to be changed?

Thanks again for your wonderful work and support.
