View library for an album that has multiple artists for a song. See picture for illustration of thumb missing (even though now playing shows the image from the id tag).

issue is with thumbnail naming.

If you go into your thumbs folder and into music/albums you will find a file called

eminem;rihana-love the way you lie.jpg

try renaming this to

eminem _ rihana-love the way you lie.jpg

(will also be a large Ljpg file)

this should make the thumbs appear

Check the mantis entry as there is another part of this bug to do with stripping The, Les, Die.... from artists.
