My Tv Client connects to my TV server fine, but I still cannot stream tv.

I tried to find an answer to my problem w/out posting, but I can't seem to figure this out.

I have a tv server installed- no problem. I can use the localhost's client to see/watch tv no problem. So, I moved on and installed the client on my laptop-- connected to the tv server (by entering IP and so forth). I can then even see recorded shows (recorded on tv server), but I cannot watch them. I also cannot watch tv. I can see the stream... but when I click on it, nada.

It gets a little sluggish when I try to tune to channels, so it acts likes it doing something, but nothing. Any ideas anyone?

I have the same problem. Single seat configuration works fine, but client on another pc other than the server doesn't work. I've read some other threads regarding this issue, and believe the last working build is 12599. Haven't tried it out myself.

I have the same issue I think.

I have a TVServer setup, and the local version of MP can watch the TV fine. I don't get the Guide yet, and recording doesn't work (TimeShifting works tho).

From my Second PC I can connect over the network to the TVServer - but I cannot view ANY guide info NOR can I watch any channels.

Any clues? :(

Issue with Snapshots?

Does anyone know? Is this an issue with the latest snapshots?

I will try to use an older version and see what happens...

ok, I rolled back to Rev 12599 with the snapshots, for the both TV server AND the client. Still nothing.

What's the deal peeps?

OK, a little google'ing and I got something working :)

First of all, I am using the latest and greatist snapshots etc, so thats not this issue.

My problem was that the SQL Server Browser service was set to disabled. I changed this to Automatic, and started it manually. Then the clients connected right up!

I have a working setup now. :D

Not my solution!!

I tried that... my SQL browser service is running fine. Still no video.

Just so I know for sure, what exactly has to be installed on a "client" to watch from a tv server?

What I have installed on my client is:

Mediaportal (standalone)
Snapshots
TvPlugin for MP (from Tv server zip file)

Do I need SQL... or the full tv server installed on a client?

Just need sql server xpress on server not client. As mentioned make sure broowser service is running and also check your sql server config. Go to SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. > SQL Server 2005 Surface Configuration for services and Connections > SQLEXPRESS>Database Engine>Remote Connections Select "Local and remote connections" and "Using TCP/IP Only"

You can test the sql server from remote client by going to Control panel>Administrative Tools>ODBC Datasources>Add select SQl Server(Bottom of list)>FinishEnter server for name and server>Nextselect SQL Authentication tick Connect to SQl Server.....enter sa username and password >Next>Next>Next>Test Data Source
If all is working then test will be sucessful. SQL server is now working from network client.

I'm having this problem too. I've tried all of the suggested solutions, including complete clean re-install of everything (including SQL). Very frustrating :-(

Your problem might be with your client, not your Server.

Try viewing the stream over VLC and if that works - its a problem with the connection between client+server.

I must admit - I know its Beta - but its rather an unstable setup. If I get some time, I would like to get under the hood a bit and try to improve the mechanism.
