Closing MP with Alt+F4 (in fullscreen mode) makes Windows "lose" the start menu bar. It's gone and the background goes all the way down. Starting MP again and minimizing it will restore the bar but I usually connect with remote desktop to my HTPC and it's annoying not having the bar during the session.

I'm guessing something isn't uninitialized properly.

    Hi,
Alt+F4 it's the way to "force" close when normal close isn't working & if you have "hide taskbar in fullscreen mode" this will happen.
Use the exit or x button (B2 skin) to close MP properly.

    Regards
    Roy

Thanks, turning off hide taskbar in fullscreen mode fixed the problem.
