I feel kind of silly asking this, when all the talk is about digital cards, but I am a Media Portal user looking for a replacement for the Hauppauge HVR-1300MCE originally supplied with my Scaleo E. There are three main reasons for this:
1) I have intermittent problems with resuming from hibernate, which Hoborg assures me are due to the TV card or, more precisely, its drivers. He seems to have found a workaround but it sounds very cumbersome, and he hasn't yet disclosed the details.
2) The HVR-1300MCE seems to have some tricky bits in its configuration. At one point I had it delivering audio from the external inputs on the back panel (used with the composite video input), but can no longer get this to work.
3) Most decisively, it can't seem to handle the output any of my VCRs produce when playing NTSC videotapes. A real TV can handle the signal, but I need to dub some of these cassettes off onto DVD, before the tapes or the VCRs fall apart!
I am looking for something that fits in the Scaleo E (PCI), works with MP and has a baseband input (composite video, SVHS or even RGB) which can interpret both PAL and NTSC inputs (automatically) without needing reconfiguration in between. After all, if a TV can handle my changing from a PAL videocassette to an NTSC videocassette, why can't a TV card?
I never used the digital section of the HVR-1300MCE. If I ever need digital, it will be DVB-C or DVB-S(2), not DVB-T!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
