My first attempt to build a decent HTPC. Hardware so far is:

Antec Fusion V2 Case
Biostar TF7050-M2 MB
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Proc
Corsair VS 2048 MB Ram

This should (hopefully) be enough for 720p, HDMI, HDCP compliant, 7.1 S/PDIF optical audio.

To get it up and running I'm thinking of getting
Samsung SpinPoint T166 250GB SATA2 8MB 7200RPM, this one will later be OS drive and I will get a bigger one for the media.
NEC DVD AD-7170S Silver OEM SATA

This should be enough to try the setup out with some DVD's, 720p movies, MP3's and CD's.

Whattdaya think? Comments please! Later on I'll look into the DVB-T card and if needed, a better graphics card.

Build looks good to me...

I would go with a low power CPU, since heat is almost always a problem. Have you checked AMD 45 Watt CPU?
