Hi all.
First I have to say I am very impressed with MP. I just finished building an HTPC and right now I am using it as my HT application.

I have noticed a couple of things that I hope someone can shed some light on.

1) I notice that the MCE remote control can be to sensitive. I push the button once and it acts as though I pushed it twice, making navigation difficult. Any thoughts.

2) once in a while I push the start button and get a black screen with some reference to an undefined function and an XML file.

3) I get these strange freezes, mostly around trying to download from IMDB. It results in me having to kill the application and starting it again.

4) Theres a small window that shows the playing movie or music graphic in the lower left corner. I notice the the image gets messed up in some way, it smears or freezes.

I am running the latest version.
Asus P4V8X-MX Socket 478 Motherboard
Intel Celeron 340 2.93Ghz 533FSB Socket 478
Windows XP serive Pack 2

No Expansion cards other then an ATI AGP video card for TV output

I had this same problem with an ATI Remote Wonder, I figured out it was a conflict/problem when using the bundled ATI software and the remote plugin that came with MP. What is happening, at least in my case, was that when I pushed the down arrow, the ATI software sent a down signal and so did the MP plugin, so the end result was the selection going down twice (skipping one line). If I disabled the ATI software, it worked fine, but then I lost the mouse function of the ATI remote. What I ended up doing was editing the plugin function and deleting the functions for what I was having trouble with (up, down, left, right, select (OK) and a few others. ) If I disabled the MP plugin, I lost the STOP, PAUSE, PLAY, FF, RW etc., functions.

I don't know if the MCE remote has mouse functions and bundled software, but this worked for me (kind of a work around).

ok I confess, I'm not worthy. You can file this under dumb ass. I put new batteries in and it works fine. DOH.
I do have a question though.
The small square that has the graphic playing when the music is going.
Can this be made to take up the full screen like windows media player. It would be great at a party to have that going on the Plasma instead of the menu page.

Now I will crawl back in my hole and punish myself some more. DOH

I use the same remote. It is, and always has been (as far as I know) the red button. Maybe you should reset you RC settings to default from the setup application?

Hi

2) Try reinstalling the skin again.
4) Try changing you Video codec. Don't think it will help with the music visualisation though.

Don't have a MCE Remote but I'm sure you could use the arrow keys to go to the preview window and press OK to go to full screen.

thanks.
I will give it a try.
Curious, you mentioned a setup application for the Remote. I have not seen one.
As for reinstalling the skin, its the MCE skin from the original install. Is it possible to reinstall it????As for the arrow keys. I had that work only once. Strange everything else works very well. I have MCE sitting on the shelf, so far I have had no desire to install it.

Cheers

Fullscreen Music Visualisation

Hey Richard,
Re: "The small square that has the graphic playing when the music is going.
Can this be made to take up the full screen like windows media player. "

I do this all the time and from memory (I am at work so cant 100% confirm sorry) you need to:
1. Get your music playing
2. Navigate back out to the main menu screen
3. Press the left arrow on your remote to highlight the graphic (you will see a green box round it when you navigate to it)
4. Press OK to make it fullscreen.

Cheers
Brett

Curious, you mentioned a setup application for the Remote. I have not seen one.

Go to Setup Mediaportal on you desktop or run Configuration.exe in the Mediaportal folder.
Click on the remote tree. The first tab is Microsoft MCE. There is a defaults button in the bottom right corner.

BTW: If you click on mapping, then Teletext Specific buttons, Red, All Layers, No Condition, the Action is set to "Show GUI". I think it should be "Show Fullscreen".

Like I said, no MCE remote so I can't verify this.
