Hi guys,

What a great plugin this is. I was wondering if the developers have ever considered making a standalone version?

I have tried at least 5 of the top movie cataloging programs on the market and none come close to this.

The only issue i have is that i dont want to use mediaportal..

Sure we have definitely considered it and from the ground up when it was just me on the project I designed the core framework to be as independent as possible from MediaPortal so that a stand alone version or a version as a plugin for another HTPC app would be possible. Over time there have been inevitable dependencies to MediaPortal that have creeped into the project, but nothing too difficult to overcome. Assuming that no one joins the project with the explicit purpose of porting the app to a stand alone version or to another HTPC app, this is something we will start looking at after version 1.0 (which would be the point when we are feature complete so to speak).

So long term, yes this is a very real and likely possibility. I would not expect anything within the next six to eight months though minimum, we are a small team and Moving Pictures is a hobby for everyone involved right now. So progress is sometimes slow.

EDIT: By the way thanks for the kind words. Comments like this are what make working on Moving Pictures very fulfilling.

really the only thing that stopped me wanting to use mediaportal was it doesnt work well with media player classic.. was coming up with errors once the movie stopped playing..

The internal player doesnt support custom stretches and isn't as easy to skip stop and adjust volume with a mouse like media player classic is..

not to mention the initial load time and the extra 5 or so clicks through mediaportal to play a movie..

all i want is a nice movie cataloging s/w.. :)

dont get me wrong mediaportal is an amazing piece of software just more than what i need at this point in time :)
