hey guys,
For a while I've been trying to get this to work but now matter what I do I cant get it to work. Basically I have a number of HD DVD's and Blu Rays ripped to my hdd. All of the h264 encoded films work great using the powerdvd8 codec with h/w acceleration. However the majority of the films are VC1 encodes and I cannot get these films to play with h/w acceleration. I have checked the graph and the VC1 codec being used is the powerdvd one and H/W acceleration is ticked in the codec properties. However I did read somewhere vc1 acceleration is tied into powerdvd only. Therefore I would like to know if anyone has vc1 h/w acceleration working within mp and if so how did you do it(what codecs etc...)... :D

Hi.
Firstly update catalyst to at last 9.3 or use older 8.5.
Make sure you assign at last 256MB to your IGP in BIOS
Update BIOS to latest version
Use SAF.

I'll give 9.3 a try although so far 8.12 has been most stable for me... my HD3200 is set to use 256mb and I have the latest BIOS... I don't particularly want to install SAF as I only need powerdvd and ffdshow for everything except vc1 so I'll just install the MPC-HC codec and try it out for vc1 acceleration under 9.3 as I have tried it under 8.12 and it didnt work

woo hoo :D .... I tried 9.4 and it works for vc1 decoding... I dont think it was actually the driver but I used MPC and halli for vc1 dxva and it works... problem is now that using halli has broke my h264 playback as I'm using the powerdvd codecs... so does anyone know if theres a way to load halli only for mkv's and anything else (avi, etc...) halli wont be used...
