Apple Trailers not working, Gametrailers are (1 Viewer)

Firstly, hello. I'm new to this fantastic app & the trailers function was what grabbed my attention.

It's fantastic, been using it for a few days now. I originally didnt know what I was doing & played round with files far too much so did a fresh install this morning.

However now I've done this cant get film trailers to work at all. If I select any of 'small, medium, large' the screen simply flickers & if I select a HD trailer it goes to a black screen & hangs.

My codecs havent changed at all from yesterday when everything ran perfectly. I'm using CCCP & AC3.

Also, gametrailers run perfectly in SD or HD too.

a) The errors are harmless (i'll get rid of them in a later version but they won't break stuff)
b) Because the plugin worked before and is broken after a reinstall you should check if the reinstall altered something on your system (perhaps it's the codecs that are installed)

I've now uninstalled MP, all plug-ins & skins, registry & data & all codecs I had installed.

I've installed Haalli Media Splitter & the MP SAF codecs as here:

I've then installed MP 1.0.0 via this link:

It keeps saying 'remote name could not be resolved' & 'Error connecting to'. Is there a way I can fix that?

Thanks again for your help, I'm very anxious to get this fixed, both cos I love this Trailers plug-in & cos it's now bugging me!

The errors about "Error connecting to/ Error parsing" are harmless, they are residu of some fuzzy logic i used to scan for trailer urls. I will remove them in a later fix but they won't break stuff. Can you set the mediaportal logging to DEBUG and try again so we have more information about what is going on.

i still think it's a codec issue btw.

Ok, I'm stumped.

I've tried three fresh installs & I've run CCCP's insurgent which shows the only pack as CCCP (uninstalled), but tonnes of filters.

Codecs have always baffled me TBH, despite basic proficiency in most other matters.

I've no idea where or how to go about identifying whether it's a codec issue. I've uninstalled all existing packs & installed the SAF codecs from this site, but no joy.

you messed around way too much with codec packs.
to me it seems that you managed to break your system by that. this is why codec packs should never, ever be touched at all.

i am using the latest version of MyTrailers, and apple trailers are working nicely.
so i stongly recommend that you go back to a clean version of your OS (i hope you use something like Acronis TrueImage) and only install the codecs you really need. (stay away from codecpacks).

to get MyTrailers / mov playback working in MediaPortal, you just have to install:

• apple quicktime
• MediaLooks Quicktime DirectShow-Filter (special MediaPortal build without watermark)

Thats it.
