I did a search on the forum, but didn't find anything. Maybe I'm just searching for the wrong thing. Anyway how can I get a recording to archive to a different drive while keeping it available within mediaportal (either myTV or myVideos) with all information from the database (title, channel, etc...). Is anything like this even possible? I tried the compression, but all it does is an in place compression to the same location on the same hard drive. The reason I would like to do this is my 320GB drive is filling up and I like rewatching episodes of certain shows and I would like to keep them available at the touch of a button without having to dig for a disc. Thanks for any info.

In the configuration, where you set up your TV tuners, select one TV tuner click Configure and choose the folder where you want to store your recordings. I keep my recordings on a different unit, so the system unit only has the OS and programs (less fragmentation and this way it's easier to back up).

Thanks for the reply. I have it recording to the drive I would like it to record to (320 GB), but I would like to archive, or offload, my current recordings that I want to keep to a different drive because I am running out of space on my recording drive, but I want the archived recordings to still be accessible using myTV (or somewhere within MediaPortal). Any ideas?

Too bad there isn't a way to specify the drive for each recording schedule (Record every showing of this episode to drive "A").

You can move the files and then manually edit the database to reflect the new location. I've done this a few times, but backup the databases, as they contanin important data. Go to MediaPortal\Docs, there is a program to view the databases, I can't remember the name, but it's the only exe. Open the TV database and change the file name to reflect the new location.

I wish there was an better way to do this from inside Media Portal, but I'm not aware of one.
