Hi.

I've browsed the Wiki manual some, (and tried to go to the full list of plugins, but get a 404 error), and I'm thinking many of the answers here are no, but hoping to be surprised.

Can Media Portal be configured or have plugin capabilities to do the following?

  • Integrate with Girder
  • Work with USB-UIRT
  • Track and manage offline movies, and pop up a box sayingi "Insert DVD # XXX"
  • Provide a method for auto-discovery of movies
  • Use data from My Movies database

Thanks for any thoughts.

  • Look at the "IR Server Suite (IRSS)" plug-in.

There are two plug-ins that do what you need, "Moving Pictures" and "My Films".

Moving Pictures has a great auto-discovery method and in the last beta (in the last stable two??) can retrieve the data from the MyMovies database(the MediaPortal one), but I don't know if can provide you the other functionality. Look at their forum for a better description of functionality.

Not 100% sure, i think IRSS does this. At the very least Girder can pass keystrokes to MP

Yes, built in support within mediaportal without using any plugins. For more advanced customisable support you can use IRSS plugin.

    * Track and manage offline movies, and pop up a box sayingi "Insert DVD # XXX"

Yes moving pictures plugin for movies supports offline movies and removable drives.

    * Provide a method for auto-discovery of movies

Yes moving pictures plugin for movies will attempt to guess the correct IMDB url from either the file name / year / folder name. It will also scan for any .txt or .nfo files that have the imdb id/link.

    * Use data from My Movies database

Yes moving pictures can be set to scan the .xmls file (you will have to add .xml to the list of scanned files) if it is in the same folder as the movie, and you only have one movie for folder. It will use the mymovies.xml to help it guess the correct IMDB reference/title. It will only scan the .xml for for the IMDB ID#, It wont use any more information from mymovies.xml. Moving pictures can also pick up the folder.jpg and backdrop.jpg if my movies has created them. In the future moving pictures will have more comprehensive support for getting data from movie.xml files. If you have multiple movies within 1x subfolder then it will scan the .xml if it has the exact same filename as the movie.
