Hi,

I have a weird problem with aspect ratio:

When I start TV playback on a channel with, for example, 2 audio tracks (MPEG and AC3), tv will first display with the correct aspect ratio. When I then change the audio track, aspect ratio will change.

Aspect ratio will then be wrong for all channels until tv is restarted.
Logs look like PlaneScene: video AR is detected wrong, after audio track change.

Attached logs (mediaPortal.log) show this error:

Before changing audio track:

Can’t see the link to Audio Selection, but there is a bug.

After a number of channel changes the picture becomes vertically squashed.

The first fullscreen Planescene at 2007-12-04 09:23:09.406599 is correct, then channel change, the second Planescene at 2007-12-04 09:23:17.276839 is wrong, the picture is squashed vertically. All subsequent changes retain wrong aspect ratio, until you can find a 4:3 broadcast (to force a rethink) or turn TV off and on.

The problem seems to be mainly when changing to Channel 5 in the UK, I do not know yet if there is anything unusual about Channel 5’s stream that is affecting this. However it did not happen 2 months ago.

Test was carried out with nvidia PureVideo and an 1280x720 screen.

For me, it is enough to change the audio track, which is even worse:

If I am not happy with the autoselected audio track I have the choice:

Manually selected audio track, wrong aspect ratio or autoselected audiotrack, correct aspect ration.
Turn TV on/off will give me the autoselected track again...

Same here.

I'd like u gents to try and use the keyboard, see if there is any difference.
Maybe the remote is sending the wrong codes or duplicates.

I change the audiotrack through F9 context menu all the time...no probs.

Do u cycle through audio tracks ?

The OSD (top bar) comes up fine when I cycle audio and AR.

Did u try another video codec ?

    OK, i got it:

    Keyboard: no change

    ffdshow: Aspect Ratio always wrong
CyberLink PowerDVD 7, Aspect Ratio always correct
PureVideo, Aspect Ratio set to "content default": Aspect Ratio wrong when audio track changes
PureVideo, Aspect Ratio set to "RAW/Anamorphic": Aspect Ratio always correct

But I still think it is a MP problem, as it did not occurr some time ago.

    Nice regards,
    Markus

This happens when u change the audio track manually.

TVplugin signals to MP that it wants to change audio (providing audio index).
Then MP signals to the tsreader.ax (DS filter) that it wants to change audio (providing audio index).

Now tsreader fires a ("A/V specs have changed better rebuilt graph") event (callback) notifying to MP that a graph-reconnect is needed.

    Finally MP reconnects the pins.
And I think this is where ur problem is.
At first I thought that u had problems with the builtin "AR" command was issued ..where u get the top bar shown.

But this seems like a directshow issue.

Why not just use; CyberLink PowerDVD 7

I also recently had some weird problems regarding filters that used to be running fine but no more.

Ex. I have used powerdvd6 for video filter.
Then suddenly, animal planet always gives me chipmunk sound. Each and every time.
I then changed audio codec ..no change...hmmm, changed video to nvidia, then it worked.

Usually this stuff happens when stuff is changed in tsreader and/or tswriter.

U could try and revert to older vers. of tsreader/tswriter.
Whatever u come up with is valueable to us all :)

    Yes:

    Looks alike.
What I do not understand is, why not only the audio pin is reconnected on audio change.
Is there a TSReaderPlayer:OnAudioTypeChanged() callback missing?

    > Why not just use; CyberLink PowerDVD 7

Because it is enough to reconfigure PureVideo (see my post).

Hmm - looks more like there is a general problem in the approach which is used there?

    > U could try and revert to older vers. of tsreader/tswriter.
    > Whatever u come up with is valueable to us all :)

I am sorry, no time for that.
Problem is also, that on a single seat setup it is unclear to me, which tsreader/tswriter will be used and what has to be installed/changed for a test: mp, tvserver, tvplugin.

    Nice regards,
    Markus

    gibman:

Here is the description and the logs for the aspect ration problem.

    - I watched LiveTV, Channel "Pro 7", in fullscreen for a long time
    - I opened the EPG and switched the channel to "ZDF" via the EPG
    - The channel "ZDF" is shown but in 4:3 aspect ration instead of 16:9 (I recognized the wrong aspect ratio immediately after channel switching because the channel logo should be a circle but it wasn't).
    - However, even though the aspect ration was wrong I watched that channel for approx. 45min. (my wife was watching a show :p )
    - I then stopped LiveTV by entering home menu and pressing the stop button
    - I reentered fullscreen LiveTV and now the aspect ration is correct (16:9)
    - I exit LiveTV and saved the log (so go backwards to analyze the problem).

I am using the Cyberlink PowerDVD audio/video codecs from the Deluxe version 7.3 Build 3516.
Also, I am on MP 0.2.3 and TVE3 with SVN 16587.

    MP or Cyberlink issue?

    One addition:

Using PureVideo with Aspect Ratio set to "RAW/Anamorphic" does not completely solve the issue:
With that setting, it looks like the images are squashed horizontally.
I'm now using PowerDVD, pretty sure the same problems which MPUserFromGER reports will also come up here.

Just to be sure...Any idea when this problem started to occur ?
Makes digging in the code that much easier.
