aspect ratio not working properly (1 Viewer)

hi guys,

since a long time i have a problem with the aspect ratio settings.

you see, i have a few movies that are in 4:3 format.
but whatever aspect ratio i choose (stretch, 14:9, zoom, etc.) i can't get the movie to full screen.
i can only stretch it a little bit vertical.
if i play the movies in another application like pdvd for example i don't have this problem.

does anybody now what the problem might be?

i would guess this is a codec issue. Have you tried to configure different codecs in MP settings? For MPEG the PowerDVD codecs work very good. For other stuff you could try FFDShow.

i always use PDVD9 codec. i tried other codecs as well and it's still the same problem.
i will give FFdshow i try again.
my movies are all in DVD format (IFO/VOB)

i tried again with ffdshow.
but i can't seem to fix this problem.
does anybody else now a solution to fix this?

hey,
one more thing that comes to my mind: Have you ever tried to change the setting on your TV set? I have a Philips LCD and have figured out that it depends on the setting whether 1024x768 can be displayed fullscreen or not - maybe worth a try...
