I have some MKV movies that the display ratio is 2.35, but the actual pixel ratio is not, for example:
720x400 pixels with display A/R of 2.35. This displays OK on media player classic, but in MP the A/R is wrong.
If I play a movie of 720x304, it will display OK, as that is native 2.35, but the first example is not.

How do I get MP to respond to the Display A/R instead of the native A/R?

I have just upgraded my 29" CRT TV for a 1920x1080 plasma TV, does it on both.
I have a Radeon ATI 2400 Graphics

Any Ideas?

Im not quite sure this is what you are after, however this is how I do it.

I use CoreAVC just as you, but I got the raw ffdshow filter enabled for post processing, and in ffdshow configuration I got resizing enabled so that it will resize the aspect ratio to 16:9 (1,77) so that it will display all movies full screen as I hate the black bars that would otherwise occur.

Hi Kossu,
I have not tried any of the post processing filters. Might be worth a go.
Unlike you, I don't mind the black bars, I don't like seeing the picture stretched.

If I play the file in MPC and untick "Keep aspect Ratio" in the "Video Frame" menu, the video then reverts to the actual pixel ratio and is stretched. I get the same result when playing the video in MP with the "normal" setting. (The picture is stretched) So it seems to be that MP is playing the file just as is, and ignoring the display A/R as written into the info in that file.

Any help would be appreciated

OK, I have fixed it.

I checked the CoreAVC configuration and ticked a box called "Force VMR AR correction"

Not sure what VMR means but it worked anyway!

Thanks

    Oh, and:
    Force VMR AR correction
This option can be used if you are working with the decoder outside the normal player environment.

    - Off: does not change VMR settings.
    - On: instructs VMR filter to maintain aspect ratio of the video that it displays. Normally this AR correction is the responsibility of a video player. This option should normally be off.
