I'm getting an ATI HD 2400 PRO (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-080-HT&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=939) and am looking for the ATI DVI to HDMI adapter to allow both video & sound through the HDMI cable.

Does anyone know where to get them in Europe?

The ATI online shop sell them but only in the US or CA. If any US/CA MP users are willing to purchase these on my behalf and ship them over, drop me a PM.

See if you find an answer here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=869903

(I might be lazy giving you the whole thread, but I have not read all of it yet)

Yikes - big post, although a quick scan does indicate that the 2000 series does have onboard 5.1 audio but you need to use the ATI DVI - HDMI dongle to enable it.

I'll have a full read tomorrow.

My local geek shop has them available in Finland.

If you want I can get one and post it to you?

Paul.

Are you sure it's the ATI DVi-HDMI dongle, I don't think a standard DVI - HDMI will work as it'll just do the video, the ATI one has some audio capabilities too. Thanks for the offer though if it is ATI, I'll take you up on that!

I'm pretty sure it is, good news is that I can test it for you :=)
I have a 2600XT and I use the HDMI audio and video.

Having read that post it looks like normal DVI - HDMI adapters do not work, to get the audio working through the 2400 you need ATI's DVI-HDMI adapter.

The DVI standard does not include any audio transmission capability, ATI must have hijacked some of the pins to achieve this and require their own adapter to achieve it.

pmcguire, I'd be grateful if you could test the adapter and see if you get audio through it, pm me to sort out any costs.

Do I understand you correctly that you have not bought this card yet?

    Take a look at 2400-cards here: http://www.komplett.no/k/kl.aspx?bn=10488

Those not marked: "NB! Leveres ikke med DVI-D til HDMI adapter, dette må kjøpes separat." should include the DVI-HDMI adapter. All I found for the 2400-series, is the Sapphire 2400XT.

I would prefer a 2600PRO instead of a 2400XT due to lower core clock (and therefor probably less heat). But a 2400pro w/adapter would be the best solution.

The card has been purchased and will arrive tomorrow, I haven't found any 2400 with the ATI "Active DVI-HDMI" adapter included, I've only seen it bundled with the Powercolour HD2600XT & 2900 cards, but then again if I was paying £££££ for a 2900 I'd expect the adapter!

I contacted the UK supplier of the card but all they said was they don't stock the ATI adapter and they don't know anyone who does

A quick update, pmcguire tried the adapter he sourced but it didn't work.

I bought a Masterplug HDMI ->HDMI cable from my local supermarket (€20) and it came with a DVI -> HDMI adapter so I thought I'd try that, and it worked to an extent - I can get audio through the TV but it's really bad quality, very crackly.

I have however, now sourced the ATI dongle, a tip on another forum prompted me to search for 6141054300G on ebay :) so I've ordered some of these, they should arrive in the next couple of days so I'll update later on how they perform.
