Dear all... Something that has been bugging me for a long time.:. My ATI remote Wonder II`s unwillingness to cooperate with me in XP Home and using Mediaportal (all versions untill now) ... I KNOW there is a fix for this, but I have formatted and reinstalled my PC only 3 times in my Mediaportal Career, and only the second time I managed to find out how to make the RW2 driver integrate with MP.. (which for me means that all the buttons on the remote work, incl. stop, pause, play, skip etc... Normally (for me at least) Only the volume, mouse and a couple of more functions work. (can assign some other functions to some of the buttons, but not all, like play, pause, stop..)

first of all, since I`ve experienced this in several installations, it cant only be me who experience this, and SOMEONE out there must have a clue to where I`m wrong :) Coz I`m SURE it`s only a minor "bug" in my brain that creates this problem (I remember the "why didn`t I think of that feeling" the last (and only time) I made this work properly...

(why aint RW2 support properly implemented in MP anyways?)

Hope you will have an excellent evening :) (and, the remote works flawlessly in other apps, like MediaPlayer10/11)

You need to change the dll to the one included in the file I uploaded.
There was some change in a .2 svn that made the plugin not work. The dll will fix this!

I deleted the ini and the dll from the ~boot/ati mm/rem/plugin directory... shut down the remote software, and copied the dll and the ini back into the same dir...starter ati remote wonder sw, "imported" the dll... and everythings the same... there is some tiny annoying thing I`m missing here ...

I`m starting to question my own IQ here :(

Could some changes I`ve done to the MP setup have any influence on my problem you think ?

    Hi hakuna,

The ati remote wonder is an x10 remote. Their have been great advancements in this type of remote recently. If you install a newer svn, you can go into the configuration, select the ati mapping, and click on the "learn" button. This will allow you to teach the remote what button does what. After you have done so, if you think your mappings are what the standard person would want, you can upload them to this thread and I will make the changes in the default mapping. Good luck.

it is an x10 remote, but the remotewonder 2 ( maybe its only me!! ) does not work with the x10 drivers.

so the only way to use it is with an plugin..

[I did not check hakunas dll, but I`ve modified too the plugin and addet it to the driver-- plugins--input section. ( I did not see ther remotes sction :( so maybe one of the operators could change its location....)
Added the DVD, ATI, TV and POWER buttons to the plugin ]

---- maybe im doing something wrong at the instalation of the remote, but the x10 drivers mentioned in the setup never worked for me.-----

    Hi theburu,

If you don't mind doing some troubleshooting. Uninstall any software that came with the remote. Search the hard drive for x10net.dll. in that directory, open a command line window and type "regsvr32 /u x10net.dll" without the parentheses. Download the software from the link. If you happen to be German (german comp settings), this will be from Medion. If you have any other settings, the download is from snapstream (i would recommend these). Install them. I don't think you get any confirmation window. Check the enable x10 remote. Select your remote (and to be safe click defaults). Check "extended logging" or whatever I called it. Press OK. Start the config again, and try the learning tab. If that doesn't work, please attach your config file.

    I uninstalled the ati software.
    unregistered the x10net.dll
    deleted everything and restarted.
installed snapstream ( though XP is german..)
    problem is..

when I plug the reciever of the remote into the usb- port, XP searches for the drivers for the ati remotewonder 2! ( I cant make him to accept the drivers included in snapstream.)
Do the drivers ( .inf) have to be the ones from snapstream or from ati?
Sometimes Xp finds a new device ( maybe the x10 ?! ) but whenever I try to install that one, ( in the drivers subdir of snapstream) I always get a bluescreen of death during installation.
I'm sure I am doing sth wrong!!! But i really do not know what..

Do I have to set something ( or add some files to ) with the x10net .dll?
What are the drivers needet for the hardware?? the ones from ati or the ones from snapstream?
    And what config file?
the remote config? or my keys config, or my setup config.
( in the setup th x10net driver is recognised)

I've tried some time ago the medion drivers, but with no results... thats why i used the plugin from ati.
    :(

yikes! OK, new approach. Install the ATI software, but disable it. After installation, go to the folder the software is in and open a command window. Type "regsvr32 x10net.dll" This should succeed. Then try and do the learning.
