    My ticket:

    Me:
    Impossible to force 1080P @ 50 Hz
    Details: HW: 690G based motherboard.

I can "force" it to do a LOT of strange refresh rates, but not 50. This is very annoying - ATi should know that 50Hz = PAL, right?!

Prev. versions (7.2 amongst others - I've been stuck on that due to other bugs introduced afterwards) of the driver gave option to force 50 Hz, but this caused black frame around picture.

(Seems like there is nothing like a perfect driver comming from ATi?)

I could off course use PowerStrip, but there should be no need to. With nVidia there has never been any problems to get PAL refreshrate.
    Ati:
Please note that AMD Incorporated enforces guidelines for inappropriate language. Therefore, your ticket is now resolved (closed) by the system. We recommend that you open another ticket and your issue will be addressed based on the language guidelines reflected herein as stated:

"We would ask that you refrain from using abusive language and/or profanity in your future correspondence.

ATI Technical Support is a professional organization and follows stringent standards in our review and response to customer contacts.

Failure to meet these very general requirements will result in a non-response to this and any future correspondence to this department."

    Thank you for choosing AMD!
AMD Global Customer Care for ATI products

Am I rude? I'm a bit drunk ATM, but I can't see that I said anything that qualifies as "inappropriate language". What do you think?

    Follow up:
    Me:
"Please note that AMD Incorporated enforces guidelines for inappropriate language"
I don't get it. Please highlight the "inappropriate language" - does sarcasm qualify for this. Come on...

    I'll try again

"Dear ATI/AMD. My system (please see specs in above text) does not allow me to do 50 Hz @ 1080P. This is required to get good multimedia experience when using PAL-material. Since it allows me to do strange refresh rates, like (on top of my head) 43 Hz, 47 Hz, 54 Hz, I think you should make it possible to set 50 Hz to please the European people

    Regards"

I think that ATI Technical Supprt objected to your use of this word - "nVidia" - maybe they consider that word falls into the category of "abusive language and/or profanity" .... :D

Seriously though, I think that ATI Technical Support are being a bit ridiculous - there is nothing in your text that I find objectionable or rude.

Maybe the red flag was "bugs". They can't have any of those, can they? :)

Obviously you hit a soft spot with that one, stating the bleeding obvious (whoops could get banned) that for Europe and a few major areas of the world 50hz output is essential.

Maybe they are over concentrating on getting there full HDMI Video\Audio support out, rather than keeping existing technology going and building on it.

Hey has anyone heard of 50hz being used as a slang swear word, only wondering. :D

Well, ATi marked it as "resolved" - no word as to why/how etc.

I did, off course, reopen it - asking how it got solved. It will probably be closed again without answer.

    Guess who is going nVidia....

I have to admit I've always been an nVidia fanboi but the more I read about Ati, I am beginning to think it's highly justified.

It's a shame, as I usually like to support AMD as much as possible.
