Audio Language unknown:eng (1 Viewer)

Hi Folks

In the UK we have multiple english channels. Specifically an extra one for the blind that includes another :eng audio that describes the video.

It appears in MP as

1:unknown:eng
2mpeg2:eng

MP chooses the first eng audio language and it is often the wrong one for me. I want it to always choose mpeg2:eng.

Is there any way we can force this selection

Most of us want the 2nd channel but all the language options I find specify :eng which I guess MP happily chooses. Is there any way we can select the correct channel. You can go into the channel audio settings each time you choose the channel and change it but this is not great. It always been the case for the 2 years I have used MP but now instead of a few channels is becomes many so it is now a big annoyance.

Currently there is no way to make such happen. MP / TVE3 client can only prefer AC3 tracks over other types. If there are multiple language tags that contain the same value the first one will be used.

This has always been an issue in the UK and with more and more channels supporting this it is drastically reducing the viewing pleasure of the other users (besides me). Even my 5 year old complains about this now as it appears on many channels.

The transmitted order changes, so if the stream is mpeg2:eng first its fine. About 70/30 now but growing. It used to be easier to change but now with 1.02 its about 6 button presses every time you channel change if its wrong.

Do I need to make a feature request or will you take it onboard ? This is a specific issue for the UK I guess but would affect all users on cable here.

I understand you have priorities but would like to know if you can "add this to the list".
