Audio spotlights the next thing in not arguing with the other half (1 Viewer)

First off guys, this is not really a feature request but a suggestion for a few years time.

A company known as Holosonic Research Labs are developing technology that allows you to aim sound at a specific area only. So for instance if you feel like listening to something nasty like Slipknot (no offence to them or their fans) and your other half is sat next to you on the sofa not wanting to hear The Heretic Song at high volume there will be no arguments... only you or those directly within the beam will hear the music.

Pretty amazing stuff IMO.

Naturally a set of headphones provides a similar solution today .

Seriously though, I was always wondering if something like this would be possible at all. Pretty amazing stuff. But as you said...hardly at feasable feature request at this time ;-)

I've read a little further and it seems that its the speaker that performs the magic. I'd read earlier about the possibility of Vista incorporating similar technology in its new audio stack in a Channel 9 blog.

Its probably insanely expensive since its a 'Contact use for pricing...' affair .
