When using the PowerDVD Audio Codec it very often happens that audio stops working after every second channel change or timeshift skip. For instance
    • I change from one channel to another: Audio stops working
    • I then skip back in timeshift for x seconds: Audio works again
    • I skip back or forward in timeshift again: Audio stops working
    • I change the channel: Audio works again
    • etc.
It's a very consistent problem, but doesn't always happen right away or throughout the entire session. Sometimes I am able to do some channel changes before this problem appears. But it almost always happens right away when skipping through timeshift.

I think I can confirm that this only happens with the PowerDVD Audio Codec selected. When I chose the MPA Decoder I am able to do lots of channel changes and timeshift skips without the problem ever occuring, regardless of what Video Codec is selected (so when I chose the PowerDVD codec as the MPEG2 decoder and MPC MPA for audio, the problem does not occur, at least so far it hasn't).

This happens on every MediaPortal client I use and also happens with every MediaPortal version (0.2.3 and maybe earlier, 1.0.0++) and every PowerDVD version I ever used (7.3, 8, 9), at least as far as I can remember. I have appended a log from my Dell M1330 notebook, with Vista, MP 1.1.0 Beta, EVR. In the log I first use the MPC video and audio codec and do a few channel changes and timeshift skips without the problem occuring. Then I switched to the Cyberlink audio and video codec and the problem occurs right after the first timeshift skip.

So after a long time of having to deal with this problem I finally found the time to seek out for help ;). I didn't post anything before, because the problem was easily managable by simply skipping back a few seconds in timeshift (or not just timeshift, it happens with recordings too), but it would be nice to have it fixed. Simply using another audio codec instead is not a good workaround for me. When using the MPC audio codec for example, HD content slows down for some reason (just the video, audio stays at same speed), at least in conjunction with the CoreAVC decoder.

Unfortunately it seems to be an issue with the Cyberlink audio codec itself (all other codecs work nicely with channel changes). I guess this is coming from the fact that Cyberlink's codec has been designed to be used only with DVDs.

We have known the issue for few years and there aren't any plans to try to create any workaround in the TsReader code base.

Currently the recommended audio codec for live tv (and recoderded also) is ffdshow audio codec.

Ah ok, thx for the response :). I will try the ffdshow audio codec on all clients and see if any issues occur in combination with other video codecs.
