I'm having problems with audio and video getting out of sync on playback of recorded programs.

Setup is a fresh install of XP and MP 1.1. Using the Stand-Alone Filters codec pack and everything is set to ffdshow.

During playback, the video will get ahead of the audio.

This happens gradually and steadily, after 10-15 minutes it's quite noticeable and 45 minutes it's a good 1/4 second+ out of sync (enough that the person's lips have stopped well before the audio).

Stop and and resume the playback, everything is OK.

Pause does not change it.

Anyone any clues why this should be happening?

You can try reclock. I used it in the past with success. But even easier would be installing SAF (4 or 5) in the unlocked version. This solved at least for me all out of sync issues for SD video.

    cheers

Let me quote from the sticky SAF4 initial posting:

There are two versions of SAF available. A standard version and an unlocked version. The standard version works perfect for most users. The difference between the two versions are:
    - Automatic download function of the correct and best decoders.
    - For Live HDTV channels (MPEG2/h.264) added hardware acceleration decoding support.
    - Full RealMedia support is available.
    - VP7 video decoding support available.
If you do not watch HDTV and RealMedia files, you have no need for the unlocked version.

Q: How do I obtain the unlocked version of SAF?
Send a private message (PM) to me, Hoborg and I will sooner or later give you the instructions.

For me the unlocked version makes no problems. I don't know about the behaviour of the "locked" one.
