Hi,
I have problems with AC3 streams of live TV and recorded TV (.ts files).
The video is delayed. With mpeg audio track it is ok. The interesting thing is that I have around 0.5 seconds delay for channels such as Pro7, Sat1 (which is quite a lot) but only a very tiny (almost not recognizable) delay for ORF1, ORF1HD, ARD, ZDF. ORF2HD has more delay than ORF2. So different delays on different channels.

With DVDs, xvid, (avi, mkv), HD content etc. it is perfectly synchronized when using AC3 audio.

Could this have something to do with the codecs? I already tried with SAF 4.00 beta8 and beta22 with MPA codec and ffdshow codec and PDVD audio codec.
I also already tried with and without RAM-disk.

Does anyone have any idea what this is caused by?
Is there a known bug in tsreader?

Have you installed ReClock? On my system (and several others) this makes the audio and video get out of sync when watching TV.

No. ReClock is not installed. However Cool'n'Quiet is enabled in BIOS.
I am also wondering why I have different delays on different channels.

try using ac3filter instead of ffdshow audio. there are also some reinitilizae options in ac3filter try setting them on/off.

thanks for the hint. I will try it.
Actually, I just checked my recordings with tsMuxeR and I have a time delay difference between stereo and AC3 audio track of -388 ms.
This of course leads to the delayed video.

    I tried now different things:

    1.)
I tried different codecs for AC3 audio:
ac3filter: AC3 works. checking/unchecking reinit checkbox does not have any effect. still same late video
    ffdfilter: AC3 works. same.
    PDVD9: AC3 works. same.
(All with PDVD9 video codec for SP)

    2.)
Then changed to video codec ffdfilter and new PDVD9 combo codec. still the same.

Having the very same codec combination for video and TV - I get delayed video in TV in e.g. .avi movie with xvid and DolbyDigital no delay at all.

    3.)
I switched from MP1.0.2 to MP1.1.0 with the latest SVN. still the same. :(

Could it be that I have the latest audio driver but not the latest chipset installed? (well, don't see a link between them...)

Does somebody have another idea where this could come from?

I'm guessing your from NZ, if so it's probably because you don't meet the minimun video requirements for TV3 (1080i HDTV). HD3200 is too slow. Press SHIFT+! - Do you have any dropped frames? ; If you render 10,000 frames or so on live TV3, how many are dropped?

I had issues when using the PDVD9 codec getting audio/video syncing issues on all channels so switched to CoreAVC 2.0.

I still have issues though with channel 3 with AC3 so have left it on AAC.

    Hi there,

I too had problems with audio sync when using SAF (audio goes via spdif, video goes direct to my TV)

I have no issues with hardware performance.

After spending a long (long) time looking at this, and trying every combination of codec (including ac3filter), I settled on using SAF with ffdaudio handling ac3 with a delay of 200ms

    This works great now

    J.

    Thanks for the info.
I also thought on the delay possibility, but the weird thing is that I don't have the same delay on every TV channel.
Furthermore, I don't have this issue when playing AC3 with xvid, blurays, mkv's with h264 content etc.
And I use the same codecs on video and on TV.

From whereelse could come this problem? Audio driver version?

    kiwijunglist:
I don't think it is my not sufficient HW as I can play bluray content without delay and it mainly appears on SD TV channels (but with different delay times).
After checking, I don't have any dropped frames.
