Over the years there has been one little thing in MP that sometimes gets to my nerves.
This is not related to a specific MP build, Ive had this problem ever since I stated using MP. If I remember correctly that was version 0.1.0.6

Any TV channel or DVD using Dolby Digital (or DTS) seems to play the Audio at half the volume compared to TV channels or DVD’s just doing stereo sound.

It does not matter if I use the Spdif connection to my audio processor or if I just use Analog signal out for each channel, the result is always the same, switching from a source with DD/DTS to stereo you get deaf, and switching in reverse you can’t hear a damn thing.

Is there a way to make the audio volume identical between DD/DTS and Stereo?

I don't seem to have the same problems as you. When I switch channels or to DVD/TV, my Kenwood amp automatically adjusts the input db level so all seems to be at the same level. I always thought that was within the SPDIF stream and just thought this was normal.

I'm not having this problem either, I don't use TV in MP, but I have a bunch of .mkv files with DTS or DD signal in them and none of them does this. I see you're just mentioning DVD and TV, but thought I'd tell you anyway =)

I got this problem only with digital and analog sound. Analog sound volume is controlled via pc, the ac3 for example via passthrough will be controller via the reciever only. To avoid this the only way i would know is to use the analog output of your pc and let the pc decode the ac3 streams. Or buyin a dolby digital live capable soundcard and use spdif again. Intresting to read that some reciever level the volume for you.

The Amp I am running is a KENWOOD KRF-X7775D. At the time of purchasing it was between this and an ONKYO 6??. Sounded good to me at the time and had THX as well. In hind sight I think I should have gone for the ONKYO....(suckered by on sale price and very good sales man...)
