i think it would be good to have an option at the share settings for pictures,movies and music to force mp to add new detected mass storage devices during mp's runtime to the list of shares.
Ive made a plugin (RemovableDriveDetect) that implements this behaviour but there are some things that (as far as i know) cant be done using a plugin. One thing is that the share select screen cant be updated, i can only update the shares and they will only be read on reload of the share pages (going to home and back).
I can make a patch for this, but i for the 1.0 its too late, isnt it?
