Moving Pictures has a slight problem when movies are added inside the watch folder. It seems, if the hard drive is connected directly to the client (local hardrive.. external or internal), Moving Pictures detects the change, and imports the new movie.

If there's a new movie added to a network drive, and moving pictures is watching this mapped drive, it won't import unless you restart MP or go into the Moving Pictures settings. Very annoying.

Is there a known workaround? or an auto-refresh every ## minutes? or a manual "run import" like TV Series has?

    Appreciate the help
    Thank you

it should work as you want by default, does for me

Run MP, copy a movie to your mapped drive to reproduce the issue, give it a few minutes, check it didnt work, close MP, post your logs.

You could try specifing the UNC path for your network store instead of using a mapped drive as well, perhaps your network drive is disconnecting?

Same thing happens with me. MoPi does not import new movies (mkv one in this case) automatically. Have to start plugin configuration then the movie info gets imported as soon as the plugin config screen shows. So the watch folder function doesn't work it seems. Using Windows 7 and latest MP and plugin. Only internal drive, no network drive.

Also an option to scan the Movies folder for any changes from within MP would be great!

This is normally the case if the network drived was mapped to a drive letter.

Use UNC mapping to solve it, such as \\Server-example\Folder-example and everything should work fine.

This is a problem in the way Microsoft implemented the network protocol, so there is nothing that MediaPortal and/or MovingPictures can do about it.

Another problem is file-locking by the application that is moving the file to the location for you. This can also be Windows Explorer itself, if you for example have thumbnail generation enabled. Use Process Explorer tool from SysInternals (now Microsoft) otherwise to test for that.

I add files all the time with MovingPictures running and it instantly detects the adding of new files, and it does not matter if they are added to any of the 3 local HDDs, a wired LAN share, or even a WiFi LAN share. The same with MP-TVSeries, but you do need to enable the setting that it can import with fullscreen playback going. As long as playback is done via DXVA (meaning the videocard does all the work), or you have a recent dual-core, then there is absolutly no negative impact to the playback while importing in the background.

You can also see what is going on while the plugins are running remotely via simple batch files.

Batch commands to do this with MovingPictures are:

    find "Removing: " "\\HTPC\MePo Log\movingpictures.log"
    find "Added """ "\\HTPC\MePo Log\movingpictures.log"
find "MovieImporter]: No exact match for " "\\HTPC\MePo Log\movingpictures.log"

PS: The "MePo Log" share would be created on the "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log" folder on Vista/Win7.

    Enjoy.
