hi,

i am searching for an automatic framerate change solution. I thought a great way to
do it would be to integrate the launch of an batchfile within the play function of the
myfilms plugin.

Because of that i contacted zebron und he integrated the possibility to launch a batchfile
with a certain value. So now i can put the value into the framerate field of the ANT movie
database and tell the myfilms plugin where the value is.

So now i can browse the myfilms plugin and when i start a movie, first there will be launched
the batchfile with the value i have filled into the framerate field within the ANT movie database
for this movie.

So far no issues this works and the framerate change happens .... BUT

1. with VMR 9 i get video and audio but the framerate change waits until the movie is sopped

2. with EVR the framerate change happens immediatly but i only get audio and no video

Zebron build this function so myfilms waits until the batchfile is completely launched. So i integrated
a waittime for some seconds. But that doesn't help ...

It seems that with pressing the play button MP starts to collect the movie informations ( framerate,
which codecs etc. ) and / or starts immediately with building the graph. And thats the reason why
the framerate change gives no video or waits until the filter chain is closed.

Because of the reason that i have three different kind of framerates and within the database i don't
know anymore which movie has which framerate, i need a solution to tell the system within a database
and MP should use it.

The overlay of MP doesn't have problems with the framerate change, i think  , so there should be
a possibility that the launching progress of the player and the info windows ( please insert the disc ...
etc. ) should wait until the change happend.

Is there a possiblity to do such a integration ???

Please i would be happy if somebody of the programmers could help me integrating such a solution.
I am no programmer but i would be happy if i could assist with testing and thinking about it :)

nobody of the more technical people can tell me something about this and
if there is a possibility to solve that issue ???

I would be happy if i could assist the programmer ... the only problem is that
i am no programmer. But testing and reporting, giving some hints is no problem.

Or if there is another solution for differten framerates ( Blu-Ray, HD-DVD with
24 fps and DVD or recordings with 50 and 60 Hz ) please give me a hint.
I think the main problem is that i need a solution inside and outside MP because
of the new HD media formats. And i recognized that not all graphiccards can
handle all ways of changing the framerate ...

hi,

yes i found this plugin but i have some problems.

1. i don't get powerstrip to work with my NVIDIA 8600 GT. I can't change any
resolution and refreshrate ...

2. maybe i misunderstood the plugin, but i thought that it needs the internal MP videoplayer ?!
But i need a solution which changes the refreshrate but plays the movie in PowerDVD.
( Blu-Ray and HD-DVD )

3. i am not sure if it will bring the same issues. Because if it changes the refreshrate after
the movie started to play, it would be the same i think ...

I would be happy if i get this plugin working :) and it fits my needs.

so i did some testing and i didn't relize or maybe i only found the older version,
but i could also use setres within this plugin. So until now i could change the
refreshrate with the refreshratecontrol plugin and with the solution in myfilms
but with both i get the same graph issues. No video only audio ...

And the problem with the refreshrate control is that it doesn't work with external
player ...

So for me with VISTA 32bit, i am still searching the reason why my MP can't handle
the refreshrate change while it already has loaded the movie information or even
started building up the filter graph ...

Any ideas ... ?

Hello
I have the same problem running Vista 32.

I tried powerstrip or other refresh rate sotfware with RefreshRateControl plugins. Each time I have only audio, no video.

I don't understand !

Problem lies in MP's rendering engine (and its not easy to fix). MPII's rendering engine will have support for changing refresh rate during the runtime.

ATI cards are known to handle this better than nvidia based ones.

I am using ATI old school 9500 with nada problems.

I know some who went from nvidia to ATI and his refresh rate problems disappeared.

Thanks all for your feedback. My video card is an Intel 965. So there is no hope for changing rate during runtime and I don't know when mediapotal 2 is expected.

I read many threads regarding Reclock (even with vista) and the way that Gibman uses it with powerstrip. Can reclock be a workaround ?

Edit: New tests using video sample with different refresh rates (thank you Gibman for posting them) shows that only rates which are multiple of 30 cause video problem.

I can't change my video card. My HTPC is an Aopen MP965-DR http://minipc.aopen.com/Global/spec.htm
