Hi everyone, I know that this question has already been posted twice but there was no clear answer to it so please let me try to explain my problem.
I have an AVC 3610 (very nice tuner by the way) but the problem is that it doesn't come with a PVR (it is supposed to work with Windows Media Center but I have Windows XP SP2).
Therefore, I installed MediaPortal (congratulations for the good job) but the only problem is that I don't have sounds. I really tried almost everything to get the sound working but still there is nothing that comes up. I used GBPVR to try at least live TV and that works.
Do you guys have any idea of what to do to make it work with MediaPortal ?
Thanks.

MediaPortal Version: 0.2.1.0
MediaPortal Skin: Default
Windows Version: XP SP2
CPU Type: Laptop Centrino
HDD: 60G LAptop
Memory: 1G
Video Card: ATI Mobility
Sound Card: SoundMax (Laptop)
1. TV Card: AVC 3610

The AVC 3610 is not listed as a supported TV card and I couldn't find it listed in the "CaptureCardsDefinitions.xml" file, so I am surprised that it works at all? Have you modified the "CaptureCardsDefinitions.xml" file to include this card?

BTW - is it a dual USB analogue hardware encoding TV unit?

Posting your MediaPortal.log file (as an attachment) might help, too.

    Still stuck.

Well apparently it works fine except for the sound, and there were 2 posts about that but no final solutions. That's too bad but I don't give up.

    I attached the log.

Ah, I found it in the "CaptureCardsDefinitions.xml" file - it is called an "Adaptec AVC-3610 Dual TV Tuner" - I was looking for "avc 3610" (without the dash) ...

I can't see anything wrong in the MP.log file.

What audio renderer do you have configured for TV? Could you try the different options to see if that makes a difference.

Also, you could use GraphEdit to view how MediaPortal has connected the filters, which may show why there is no sound.

I assume that you are getting sound OK from music, DVDs etc, but just not from this TV unit?

    Getting better

You probably raised a very good point I think.
Indeed, there is something unexpected in the graph (a VBI output and a Kernel Tree) but my multmedia skills are not as good as yours so I might need help to fix it.

I join my graph so that you can see it.
Thanks again I think we're reaching a solution.

I think that there should be another graph - one that shows the connections to the video renderer and the audio renderer?

When you select "Connect to Remote Graph" in GraphEdit, are there 2 graphs listed?

    Yes

You are right I've never plotted the second one thinking it was the same but it's slightly different.
I am not to sure to understand the meaning of the graph so any kind of help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks again.

If you look at the MPEG2 Demultiplexer filter in the second graph, you will notice that the audio pin is not connected to anything - it should be connected to the MPA Decoder filter "In" pin. I think that is why you are not getting any audio out, and I think this involves a change to the entry for this card in the "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" file.

At this stage, we need to call the "big guns" in - could you PM "dman_lfc" and ask him to take a look at this thread? I am sure he will be able to fix it, or point you to a later version of the "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" file that contains the fix ... :)
