Hi!

New to this scene having already dabled in xbox media center.

I live in the UK and require DVB single tuner only (no double needed just yet)

I am about to purchase a new TV card and at the moment am thinking of the Avermedia 771. The thing that attracts me to this card is the fast channel switching.

I already have a Microsoft MCE remote.

Is this a good card? Should I be looking at another?

Thanks in advance and have a good weekend!

Hi - I recently threw out my Compro T300 (very good image quality but for some or other reason totally unreliable) and put in the Avermedia instead. Very pleased with it up to now - no problems at all, and it REALLY switches much faster than the Compro - about as fast as my TV set itself, say +/- 1 sec. So I can recommend it ...

I didn't check the autotuning - channels were still in place after the Compro. And in Belgium there's no EPG being broadcasted. But installation was a snap - hardware install, driver install, reboot, MP setup found the card immediately and even assigned my channels automagically to it - and presto ...

Can you do a quick 'step-by-step' of what you did to get it working? I've installed the standard Avermedia TV application and the card seems to work fine.... and it appears to be detected within the MediaPortal Windows Setup program (although there are several settings that I am not sure about...) but within MediaPortal itself the card doesn't seem to be available. I've been through the setup wizard several times, but it still says 'No Tv Card Detected'. Is there some additional driver that you used for MP to recognise it? Or did you do anything significantly different to what I've done?

Thanks in advance for any help - Paul

Was there any news on this?

I was just given a 771, and it works fine appart from their unstable program, but MediaPortal says there's no tuner! :(

its annoying, because I don't have the remote for the 771, only an MCE remote, which means I have to get off my lazy ass, and find a keyboard to control it!

BDA drivers are what you need.
The normal avermedia driver is intended possibly for just a normal winxp installation.
MP like MCE uses the BDA drivers.
check the website for avermedia..

i hope that is correct advice..
i have had to do this with visionplus, compro and dvico cards
