Hi all,

Now the reason i titled this thread "AVI files juddery" is because it does not appear to be happening with MKV's at all, and is not restricted to just XVID or DIVX.... any codec encoded AVI is doing it. and only in MP.

I have a brand new install of windows 7 HP, Latest SAF beta, Xvid codec, latest MP beta, latest streamed MP beta, and all the latest usual plugins (TV Series, Moving pictures, online videos, my lyrics etc.....)

Every 15-20 seconds or so the AVI file will start juddering. Just the picture, not the sound. There is no lag, its just like the frame rate halves for about 10 seconds and then goes back to normal.

I am running a Asus motherboard with an intergrated ATI HD4200 with a max 512MB allocated memory. I then have 3.5 GB mem left. Phenom 545 3.0Ghz X2 processor, so processing power is not an issue.

I have tried disabling all the tickers, screensaver (MP and windows) and disabling all plugins not neccessary. Nothing has worked. Also I am getting slow scrolling (and slightly jumpy) on moving pictures and tv series. By scrolling, i mean the synopsis of a film or tv series, where it does not fit in the space allowed so has to auto scroll down. this in itself is not a problem, but i do notice that my little Acer Revo in the bedroom is lightening quick on the scrolling text compared to my main HTPC which is probably 4 times more powerful!

Any help would save my hair!!!:D

I have not got all the plugins etc that you have noted, I use Moving Picture and the TV series, but just a thought...

Not sure why you have the xvid codec AND the latest SAF installed...?

I would remove the xvid codec and the make sure that your latest version of the SAF's are installed and configured correctly - see the first page of the SAF thread.

You also have noted that you are running the latest MP BETA. Well I would install the latest SVN over that beta as it is much improved, especially if you are using Windows 7. Ensure that you are using the correct renderer - EVR.

Also run MP in a Window and then "graph" it when running a noted problematic avi and then see what filters it shows are being applied - you could run MP in a Window and then graph it and save the screenshot and then apply the changes noted above and then graph it to see what difference, if any, is being applied.

When I have had an issue similar to yours for me it was a matter of the codecs installed causing an issue. I only use the SAF's now and all is well.

I do not have any experience of using a ATI HD4200 to suggest if that could be related.
