All,
I just want to share my experiences with the following TV card:
"AZUREWAVE AD-SP400", also called "TWINHAN DVB-S2 CI".
My system:
TV-Server Version: TVEngine3 Snapshot: 11-12-2007 01-38h Revision 16511
MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3 RC3 with MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot: 11-12-2007 01-03h - Revision:16511
MediaPortal Skin: XFACE V1.2
Windows Version: Windows XP Professional MCE Edition with SP2
CPU Type: AMD Sempron 3400+ (AM2)
HDD: Samsung 250GB + HAMA SSD 4GB (timeshifting)
Memory: 1GB DDR
Motherboard: MSI Platinum Board
Motherboard Chipset: nForce 570
Motherboard Bios: Award
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 6600 GS
Video Card Driver: nvidia V81.98 (newer version have the "lightning" effect)
Sound Card: On-Board
Sound Card AC3: AC3 / optical SPDIF out
Sound Card Driver:
1. TV Card: Mantis 1041 ("AZUREWAVE AD-SP400", also called "TWINHAN DVB-S2 CI")
1. TV Card Type: DVB-S and DVB-S2
1. TV Card Driver: 1.0.5.4 or 1.0.5.9
MPEG2 Video Codec: Cyberlink PowerDVD 7
MPEG2 Audio Codec: Cyberlink PowerDVD 7
Satelite/CableTV Provider: Astra 19.2 E
HTPC Case: Ahanix MCE 601
Cooling: power supply fan, CPU boxed cooler, 2 housing fans (all controlled by SpeedFan)
Power Supply: Ahanix
Remote: Logitech Harmony 525
TV: Samsung LCD 32"
TV - HTPC Connection: Sub-D (VGA)
After installing the driver and application from the CD that comes with that TV card, the channel scan in TVE3 is extremely slow and does not find all channels. Also, tuning channels within MP is very unreliable and MP crashes after channel changes.
Also, there are two different drivers:
1. The Twinhan driver has the version number 1.0.5.4 but is named as 1.0.5.9
2. The DigitalRise driver has the version number 1.0.5.9
When trying to install the BDA driver without installing the whole CD, Windows MCE does not recognize the driver. If you force Windows to take this driver, it warns you that it is the wong driver but installs ok. However, TVE3 afterwards does not find a single DVB-S channel during scanning.
I wasted 3 hours with this card and sending it back now. I stick with my TT S2-3200, which unfortunately has the "no audio/video detected" problem after hibernate.
Traces from the first try after installing the original CD drivers attached.
