Synopsis::

The video seems to be quite pixelated, mainly noticeable on dark to black backgrounds. All runs smoothly with an occassional chopiness through the movie. Not to fussed with audio at present as I do have a soundblaster 5.1 card, just waiting to run some cabling before I install it.

I also would like to know what else to do to really give it a tweak.

Hi, not enough info here. What video are you speaking of? TV? DVD? Are you outputing to monitor? standard tv? hdtv??

What type of connection? composite, vga, etc?

Have you tried changing the render type from overlay to VMR9?

Hi, Sorry for the lack of info before.

Mainly avi or mpeg videos, normally ripped from DVD and converted as I don't like the size it stores on the HDD.

My connection is s-video output to a Toshiba 127cm rear-pro. As for the render options, this is where I am unsure as to what to set them too for best quality.

What would you suggest and is there any other info you could use?

For such a large screen a better connection might help. Surely it has more than just s-video inputs?

LOL yes it does.

Only problem is, I am running it from the computer room through the roof and into the TV in the loungeroom. We only use it to watch movies, so no need for it to be in the TV room. The cable was already wired through the roof when we moved in, so it seemed the easy option.

It has the standard AV input, S-Video input and one other set not sure what it is.

you will have no luck with such a cabling setup

s-video is already bad - s-video coming from another room through the roof is probably much worse, what did you expect

Have you tried dragging the PC out to the TV to confirm its not the cable length/quality?

Also, try using ffdshow for post processing. That will improve the picture quality somewhat, but you may not have enough grunt in your processor to be able to do this.

The wife is the problem

LMAO, if I moved the pc out to the TV my wife would stew my nuts in a light curry for the day and serve them to me on a bed of rice

Is there a better cabling option? Cable has to run about 16meters from where the pc is.

Will try ffdshow aswell.

What does the other unknow set of inputs look like? Is it a large rectangle, some other shape or mabe some different colour RCA connectors? Whatever it is, it may be a little better...

Try and describe it here as best you can...

Also, tell your wife that moving the PC is only a temporary test. If you move it close and use a short cable and the problem persists, then it's your PC fault. Otherwise it's your cables fault.
