    Hi All,

I have 2 series "Battlestar Galactica" and "Battlestar Galactica (2003)". TV Series correctly parses the files (episode_parsing.png). If you search theTVdb.com these series names match exactly and to 2 different entries. "Battlestar Galactica" matches to series ID 71173 and "Battlestar Galactica (2003)" to ID 73545.

When importing in TV Series it matches but for some reason both series have the same ID 73545 (BS 2003) (tvdb_matching.png).

When it continues to match the episodes up it uses the 2003 show (episode_identifying.png).

Any ideas why this is happening? and how it can be fixed? I have tried wiping the database and starting from scratch. Is there a problem with the tvdb.com entries?

btw I do not have this issue on my other 2 series "Doctor Who" and "Doctor Who (2005)".

    Thanks,

    James

Not sure why you're problem is occurring but I've got mine named as Battlestar Galactica (1978) and Battlestar Galactica (2003) and that works fine.

    Thanks,

    I've renamed the files to
    Battlestar.Galactica.(1978).SnnEnn.avi

But when parsing on my system (using default parsing expressions) tv series parses it as "Battlestar Galactica (" I can then manually match it to "Battlestar Galactica" but then my same problem as in my first post occurs.

The parsing in this example though goes on to identify the Season as 19 and all episodes as 78. The SnnEnn is picked up as the episode title.

Could you let me know how you have named your files and folder structure?

    Thanks.

Sorry, I should have actually checked my folder structure before replying as I was wrong, I don't have them named as Battlestar Galactica (1978).

Here is my actual folder structure:
    • Battlestar Galactica 2003
      • Season 1
        • Battlestar Galactica S01E01.avi
    • Battlestar Galactica Original
      • Season 1
        • Battlestar Galactica Original S01E01.avi
While Battlestar Galactica Original doesn't match directly it does prompt for you to choose which series and once 1978 is selected it works correctly.

Hope that helps and sorry for the previously incorrect info!

It might be that TheTVdB changed API results.

When manually checking the results from: http://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=battlestar+galactica

It shows both the orginal and the 2003 version:

and there is no way to rename it to only show the original by itself.

So this looks to be a bug introduced by recent changes done by TheTVdB website. I just ran a test myself and it indeed picks up the wrong "(2003)" show. Now a temporary solution you can do is to disable the following option:

Config -> "Online Data" -> "Automatically choose Series when an exact match is found online"

This should force both 1978 and 2003 version to show, so you can select the correct one.

And I've submitted the bug to the right place (also found another bug while testing this one), being the Google Code website, so that it doesn't get lost. Be patient on it getting fixed, but in the meantime try the above workaround.

:D to you both for the help. I've tried the workaround and now have the two series showing up separately!

OH THANK THE GODS for your workaround!! I have had the similar, very frustrating problem with V (1983-1985 series') and V (2009)... even doing a manual add does not let you manually select the series they belong to properly without doing your workaround, it defaults to the V (2009) series automatically...
Again, thank you for your help! You're a lifesaver!!

PS: Yes, I specifically made an account on the forum to tell you thanks (and to let others know that the issue is prevalent) :)
