I cannot see BBC HD - but I can hear it fine, and the mouse cursor and overlays work - otherwise the screen is black.

I've tried messing around with codecs in the TV Server and standard MediaPortal configuration, but cannot find a solution - everything I try results in the same effect.

I even downloaded the latest ffdshow and enabled mpeg1 & 2 and set ffdshow as the mpeg2 default.

I can see any other HD content I like, and have downloaded WMV 1080p files which work just dandy. I have also played back h.264 files, no problem. using other players.:confused:

Now here's the rub - I can watch BBC HD IF I use another HTPC using the Client on my other TV over the network.

While I'm at it - the Video files navigation - I don't get it - I cannot use it to find any files - it doesn't seem to conform to the directory structure - showing only "Video's on Admin" - but there is no folder called Videos anywhere.

Thanks for your help.

Rob, I would seriously use the SAF, uninstall all other codecs, this should then give you dxva (video acceleration), but you need the correct driver for your video card to support this (OS dependent).

Read the first post thoroughly, hopefully with the right driver and the MPC codecs, you will now see BBCHD.

    Thanks PD.

I'll look at this a little later today. I'm using XP SP3 with the very latest ATi drivers. By correct driver, is that what is meant?

In the meantime, I am a little worried that removing all other codecs will cause VLC and other players to fail. I'll let you know what happens in due course.

To others, please don't hesitate to keep posting possible solutions.

VLC and MPC-HC use their own internal codecs, so they shouldn't be affected by codec removal.

If you don't have any luck with the latest ATi drivers, try Cat 8.5 - ATI Catalyst? Display Driver

Run MP in windowed mode and use GraphStudio - http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/tools/monogram-graphstudio/ - to connect to the 'remote graph' and check which filters (codecs) MP is actually using.

I think MP blocks the FFDShow video codecs for live TV - there are compatibility problems apparently.

Please add your system specs to your user profile (and make sure they are visible to others).

I tried changing the video card to the motherboards on-board nVidia 7100, but to the same effect. No HD picture.

So I thought I'd try another tack.

I installed the supplied Hauppauge PowerCinema 5 and that works absolutely no trouble whatsoever.

But unfortunately on removing the HD-Fury the PC picture quality isn't so good, with minor ghosting. I'm sure though, that this can be resolved by putting the HD-Fury back in line.

I suffered a bit of a tummy upset last night, so had to give up before I barfed all over the keyboard. Still, a bit better this afternoon, so will carry on later this evening.

Who knows, I haven't tried it, but installing PowerCinema may have fixed MP's HD problem - and it's just a matter of changing the codec accordingly.

Will report results in due course.

for bbc hd (encoded in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC) you need to use coreavc like Da Nib referred or any other codec that supports it, like powerdvd, arc soft etc..

tip: for powerdvd (or any other) you only have to register the powerdvd filter, you don't have to install the program.
