Hi community,
it's my first post here!
I would like to set up MediaPortal so i can receive a video stream from another computer. That means, the pc running MediaPortal connects (lan or wlan) to another computer, which stores a video file. The file will then be streamed to MediaPortal. Is this possible?

I just read something about "multiseat", but couldn't find more details in the wiki. Could someone please explain what this is and what the difference between MediaPortal and the TV-server is?

Best regards,
Patrick

    Hi, welcome.

    1) yes easily. just setup your MP-Client accordingly (meaing setup your media shares in the Client)
2)Multiseat means: You have one box where the TV Server (that contains your TV Cards and the MP-TV Server) an multiple clients on different machines. The tv server streams the tv signal of your tv card to the clients that run the MP-Client. BUT you can also run TV-Server and Client on ONE Machine. You must however run both parts (somewhere)...

Thanks for the fast and nice answer, joystick.

So that means, the pc that stores the video files has to run the TV-server?

no, in my case i have an extra NAS. you only need to have share that hold your media files, somewhere in your network, no matter what source.
