Best Codec to use with HP Notebook and ATI RADEON 9600? (1 Viewer)

I have a HP NC6000 notebook running XP Pro SP2 with a Leadtek Winfast DTV USB Dongle. I have installed Media Portal and the 0.2 Stable Patch. I have various codecs available (MPV, DScaler, Cyberlink (ATI) & Nero); the best picture quality seems to be the DScaler Mpeg2 one but I seem to get some bluescreens when using it.
What is the best Codec to use with my setup (HP Laptop with ATI RADEON), and are there issues when using certain codecs?

BSODs would be more of a driver problem then a codec problem (unless theres something seriously wrong with the DScaler codec). Whats the speed like, as a 32mb card I would have expected to be too small (memorywise)?

This isn't a 'normal' BSOD - the screen goes blank, but blue if you get my meaning. With a regular BSOD the screen goes blue and you get white text showing what application, driver etc has caused an exception. This doesn't happen in this case I just get a blank blue screen then it reboots.

With regards to speed, when its running its fine the picture quality is excellent with no breakups even in full screen.

Can you turn off auto-rebooting when BSOD and see what the BSOD reads?

OK, configured this and when it crashes it's exactly as I said previously - there is just a blank blue screen without any text at all :?

I am sure I didn't have these issues with 0.2 RC4 and the thing would happily show TV all day. Now with 0.2 and the stable patch installed it crashes with worrying frequency. As I said I am not sure whether this is a Media Portal issue or a Codec issue, hence my original question about what is the best codec to use with my scenario?

That is awefully strange but perhaps its the Dscaler codec then. The purevideo codec was always best for me (even when I had my Ati card).

I have tried both the DScaler & ATI Codec but crashes occur with both..... Leadtek have released a new driver for the USB Module so I'll install that and see where I get.....
