I have all HD stuff up and running and it looks amazing.
The only small problem is that when I play this one very high quality file (Planet Earth 1080P 23 GB) my system has just a little bit of jitters and stutters.
Nothing really big, and no crashes, and everything else runs perfectly.
FFDshow OSD shows a 93% CPU load, so that is the problem.

This is why I think that with a little tweaking this file should also run smoothly.
Also I am not really sure if my videocard is doing most of the work (it should since it has HD decoding right?) do I have to activate or enable this in some way?

With my setup, what would be the ideal configuration for HD playback?
Or does anybody have a very smooth HD playback system with a similar setup?

I think you will find that ffdshow does not use any hardware acceleration on your video card - hence the 93% CPU.

To take advantage of the hardware acceleration of the Club3D HD2400 pro for 1080 material, you would probably have to use the CyberLink or InterVideo decoders that are compatible with your card ....

Cyberlink and Nvidia are the only 2 capable of HD with hardware acceleration, the Intervideo AFAIK, still had some problems with HW acceleration, if anyone has WinDVD 8 (released but work still being done on this aspect to overcome some bugs) working properly with support for this feature, please let us know your findings.

My money is on the cyberlink codec, as picture quality superb playing HD content with about 25% cpu (Athlon X4200) on a 1080p file.

I tried using the Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra.
Installed it, selected as codec under video....

But the CPU load is still high (95% under Planet Earth, 38% under Band of Brothers) so something is not going right.

In Graph edit the cyberlink decoder shows not to be used.
How do I make sure it will be used?
Should I do a clean remove of all codecs and just go install FFDshow, Cyberlink, Haali Media Splitter and AC3?

Any suggestions on how to easily remove all non essential codecs and on what I should install?

That selection only applies to MPEG2 files - what type of HD file are you trying to play?

For a given file type, the video decoder with the highest "merit" will be used. You probably need to use Radlight Filter Manager (google it) to change the merits of the DirectShow filters to ensure that the CyberLink one is used.
