hey guys,
Just made the switch from ati to an nvidia 8400 GS which plays 24p perfectly. However I have found that VC1 content randomly drops frames etc... and atm I am suspecting my nvidia driver. I am using 186.18 atm, I know with ati drivers that some break DXVA etc and that some drivers such as 8.12 work perfectly so I was wondering which nvidia driver people find to be best for DXVA playback of mpeg2/h264/VC1.
Thanks...

I use 182.50 but so far I haven't tried 185.xx/186.xx (mostly due to a bad experience with a 185 beta version).

Which codecs do you use ?

Occasionally I get problems with jerky h.264 playback in MP which seem to be fixed by starting from the beginning, playing a few seconds, then skipping back to the start again......I suspect some sort of buffering issue.

Definitely leave the 185 driver alone, the 186 seems fine, if you have any hdmi\resolution recognition problems after upgrading, then this changed after 182, so for people with that kind of problem, then 182 is the one to stick with.

If you are using any amd dual core processor on xp, might be worthwhile installing the AMD dual core optimizer from there website cpu driver page, this stopped the slight stutter I occasionally got :)

I'm using the 186 drivers without problems. It finally allows me to use 50Hz with my TV!
