Started on: ?? (2007-10-26) last update: ?? Summary: I mostly have my media on another computer shared through Samba (Windows Share) and would like to have that I could check in when adding the "local" folder that is not local, but remote, thus making Media Portal Check if the folder is on-line before showing any of the media located on on this path. Area: My Music, My Videos, MP-general Description: Media Portal doesn't seem to have any special routines when dealing with Samba shares (Windows Share) and this is sad because if you look at Media Center on the windows side you can add remote directories that will only show up when they are online and reachable, this would be an awesome feature and if possible incorparated to work in the Album listing of My Music and the Movies in my videos. Possible solution would to have it gray out files it cannot see that are off-line. And if the user tries to play he/she could see an warning box telling that the host of the media is either Off-line or unreachable. One way to incarnate this in the configuration would be a check box, or some sort of automated to see that if the filepath begins with "\\" it is quite certainly a remote. Otherwise it could always poll all the folders (Note folders, not the files, that would be left to the media watcher) and skip any extra settings but giving the user greatly more working remote acces. The pros with this aproach against the FTP is that it is: Easier for the newcomer and it is streamable. /Topfs
