Hi,

I'm finding the intial TV screen really jerky, but full screen TV fine and DVD also fine.
Any suggestions?

Generally the screens that have a mix of TV and GUI need more GPU then just full screen TV, due to the TV scaling, GUI drawing etc. If your graphic card is not up to the job then your CPU may need to work too hard causing the jerkyness.

Yeah, you'd think it would be doing more work, but task manager suggests otherwise. CPU usage is actuall slightly lower in the first screen (averaging about 25% v the 30% average of full screen).

The CPU load really seems to cycle up and down in either mode. Is that normal?

PCI not AGP or am i misunderstanding, as a non AGP card might not be a fast enough interface to the motherboard.

Mine goes between 10-20% with no visual cause as to why, with GUI showing.

Yep PCI (mb only has one slot)
Integrated graphics are AGP, but I never got working quite right with MCE or MP (think they're only partially DX9 compliant).

Is there anyway to test if this is the cause?

Just noticed that dvd runs fine in a window (from front screen) so it can't be as simple as underpowered graphics card.

Could it be the pci splitter I've got in there (to enable graphics and tuner to run from the same slot)?

Pretty sure it wasn't a problem with mce but not sure if mp does something slightly different...

Maybe you can try to change the PCI latency then if you have a PCI GFX card. There should be a thread about that somewhere...

Update: Problem solved! The electronic program guides (tvguide.xml) have been successfully transferred to MediaPortal. The issue stemmed from the corruption of one or both of the mc2xml.dat and/or mc2xml.exe files, for an unknown reason. Consequently, even though the tvguide.xml file appeared to be updated, its content kept being an...

Interesting. :coffee: I always have DVB subtitles enabled in "MP Config", but I actually switch on subtitles only for those films that have deafening sound effects and music, combined with inaudible dialogue. I have never noticed the problem that you have described, but I also use the EVR renderer, and not the Madvr renderer. So...

O Frabjous Joy! That seems to have done the trick. Thank you so much for your help and advice, CyberSimian. I hadn't thought of deleting the various folders, but I'll bear that in mind for any future disasters. Now I can record King & Conqueror on Sunday! Cheers Ralph

I'm using all related TV skin files provided and current, with no change since our last discussion over the skin issue. If you do not have problems with using it, then I must conclude it's not a skin problem, it's a deeper problem. and seems to be somewhat repeatable. It might be related to the combination of my network tuners...
