Hi,

I've just installed last version of MP as client in a laptop. I've running for long the same MP version with an HTPC without any important problem.

The thing is as soon as I sart MP I only can see black and white stripes; there's no blue skin.
The laptop is an Aspire 1406LC with an ATI Mobility Radeon. May be it's too old, I don't know. The thing is through the laptop I can see all the TV records I have in my central HTPC, but using VLC or any other player. The operating system is XP Service Pack 3.

I would appreciate very much some help.

Could you please try another skin, like Monochrome (if your GPS is weak)

BTW: You should know this: ;)
How to start a support or bugreport thread:
    1. Choose a meaningful title for your thread.
    2. Report only one problem per thread.
    3. At the moment you start a new thread in the support forums, the hardwarespecification template will be added automatically. If the template is empty, then you have not filled out your specifications in the usercp yet.
Note: Your report MUST include a complete hardwarespecification!
    4. Add a detailed, step by step description of your problem.
    5. If your problem occurs inside MediaPortal or the configuration program, then run the "MediaPortal Logs Collector" from your Windows Start Menu (Team MediaPortal/MediaPortal) and ATTACH the exported log.zip file to your thread/post.
Without logs it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to help you!

To create clean and conclusive logs you should use the "MediaPortal Debug" shortcut which will start MediaPortal in a special debug mode. Then you reproduce the issue and close MediaPortal. A log.zip will be created automatically which you then attach to your thread/post
If you are using the TV-Server and it is installed on a different PC, then you have to attach its logs by hand.
To do that open your Windows StartMenu and click at "TV-Server Logs Folder" in Team MediaPortal/TV-Server.
Attach all these files to your thread/post.
    6. Do NOT copy/paste your logfiles (or large parts of them) in your post.
Please note that support threads, which are missing the required information posted above will not be processed and maybe also deleted.
    :D

Logs and system specs should always be added - just in case

    Thanks a lot for answering.

I've just installed the Monochrome 2.6 skin.
The problem persists; when I start MP I only see black and white stripes. I attach the log I got when I closed the MP window. I bought that Acer Aspire six or seven years ago.

I'd just be very glad if someone could tell me if that laptop it's too old for MP and it doesn't worth trying any more.

    Thank you in advance.

What you can do, make sure you have latest bios from pc manufacturer, and the latest drivers for your graphics, also make sure in the bios, that video memory is set to the maximum allowed, rather than auto.

Thats about all your options with the ati mobility gpu.

    Hm... D3D error:

I don't have any idea how to fix a D3D error. I think I could try to reinstall operating system and see if that fix the problem.

I checked the Bios version and it seems to be the last one. No option for setting video memory in my bios.

    Thank you

    You're out of video memory:
    2009-03-06 17:56:58.125776 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: Video memory left: 8 MB

Try to put this in Mediaportal.xml and delete cache folder:

no

no

no

If I am not mistaken, that options in mediaportal.xml are only available from SVN21864?
