Synopsis::

Hello,

I have a strange problem with video playback. Either TV or video playback shows black dots all over the screen (like a grid), making impossible to watch anything.

It happens when color depth is 32. If it is set to 16 everything works fine (but with 16 bits colors are not good).

It is also corrected when I select exclusive directx mode and I am in fullscreen mode. When normal directx mode is selected black dots appear either in fullscreen or window mode, and they also appear in exclusive directx mode when window mode is selected.

Any other video playback software installed in my PC works ok (showshifter, vlc, wmp10, viplay).

I have reinstalled nvidia video drivers and directx, with no results.

I have also reinstalled MediaPortal but nothing.

Any idea what this may be?

Thanks in advance for your help

I have the same graphic card and the same problem. I have no solution for this problem other than downgrading to the 84.XX nvidia drivers.
I think it has someting to do with purevideo also. Do you have purevideo installed?

[edit]after some testing with different codecs I ruled out that purevideo is causing my problem.[/edit]

Thank you for your tip. I have tried the 84.21 drivers and they work fine. No black dots anymore :D

Still don't know what the problem is, but it is only happening with MediaPortal and 91.31 nVidia drivers.
