Sorry, this isn't really an MP problem, but I'm desperate!
Roughly 30% of the time, my Scaleo E fails to restart from hibernate mode. The FL display is blank and the video output is a black screen at 1024x768 resolution. This is the resolution displayed by the BIOS at startup. WinXP MCE is set up for 1280x768, the native resolution of the connected flat panel. The problem has been present since I purchased the unit almost a year ago and persists despite driver updates and attempts to fix it using 3d party software, such as MCE Standby Tool. The symptoms are the same, even when no application (e.g. MP) was running at the time of hibernation. The only way to recover is to forcibly shut down by holding the power button down for 4 seconds, reboot and then take the option to delete recovery files and restart. The unreliability of startup means that almost a year after purchase, and untold hours of configuration, customization and troubleshooting, the unit has a WAF of zero. What can I do to fix this problem?

Thanks for responding! No, the PC doesn't respond to anything other than hard shutdown (hold down power button ca. 4 seconds).
From observing the behaviour, it appears that Windows is unable to resume due to something hanging at the driver level. I suspect the video driver, but can't prove it. Since updating the nVidia driver (see "My System" at left) this happens much less frequently.
Nonetheless, as long as it happens at all, the system has an effective WAF of 0.

Faced this problem too. Did not happen a long time or since i installed windows new. Dont know exactly.
Never found the reason for it. No special errors inside windows event log.
Hope you will find a solution in case i will face this problem again.

    HiJack,
Did you ever make any progress with this? I'm still struggling with it. It seems that the hangup isn't always at the same point during the boot process, but always before (re-)starting Windows.
Sometimes I can power down after a hang by just pressing the power button; usually I have to hold it down for four seconds. Sometimes after forced power down, the restart then proceeds normally, without intervention; usually I have to choose between a fresh start (deleting the hibernate file) and a resume. In the latter case, resume always works, so there is obviously nothing wrong with the configfuration stored in the hibernate file.

    same problem sortov

I have the same problem where MP does not display anything after starting up from hibernation about 30% of the time. MP runs fine in the background, i just can not see anything, all i can hear are the sounds MP makes when scrolling up and down the main menu and if i go into tv using the remote control the sound comes through fine but just a black screen is displayed. If i then close MP i will get a display and everything is fine from their. I am outputting to a crt over component cable and the fact that when i close MP i can see the windows desktop would indicate to me that it is an MP issue. Scheduled recordings which bring my machine back from hibernation record fine aswell. Because i have a crt tv the tv does the scrolling thing when first turning the tv on (not from hibernation) and then displays perfect but when coming back form hibernation i get the "resuming form hibernation" displayed and then the machine displays a black screen. No scrolling or weird stuff from the tv like when it is first powered on from non-hibernation mode. Havn't reported it earlier because it is easier to turn the thing off and on again but wifey is getting a little annoyed about it.

    yamum,
Not the same problem as mine, I'm afraid. In my case, Windows doesn't even restart, much less MP.
Generally, the display remains blank with a 1024x768 signal. This is the resolution used by BIOS during startup.
When Windows loads, it changes to my preferred resolution of 1280x768 (native resolution of LCD panel).
I wish you success with Spragelknas's suggestion!

    P.S.
After swapping my NVidia GeForce 6600 for an ATI Radeon HD3450, I don't have such frequent resume problems. On the rare occasions when resume doesn't work properly, the hang occurs later than before. It happens when the Windows resuming progress bar reaches 100%, just before switching from 1024x768 to 1280x768.

yamum: Did you try (in later SVN) to enable:
Setup -> General -> "Restart MP on resume"

I did try your suggestion but it didn't seem to make a diff. It was an intermittent problem and it was only when i was using WinXP, im using Win Vista now and haven't had that problem at all.
