Ok I'm almost 100% sure this worked previously and I have no idea why it doesn't anymore. When I select VMR9 as my directshow video renderer I get beautiful blacks and colors for MKV files, but when I try to play XVid/AVI files no picture shows up at all, I just get audio. If I change to EVR, I get video fine for XVid/AVI but my MKV files have extremely washed out/grey blacks making the video horrid to watch.
Ideally I'd just like to use VMR9 since it works so good, but I have been searching for nearly 8 hours and cannot figure out why none of my AVIs play correctly with VMR9 selected. I have no idea why that would even affect anything since it's using the same codec either way.
Someone please help, it has to be an easy answer! I did look into making the blacks better with EVR but that seemed impossible or at least extremely complicated to fix, I think finding a solution to the VMR9 issue will be easier (I hope).
Has anyone had this issue and if so how do I fix it? I can play any of these AVI videos just fine in any external player, and like I said if I switch mediaportal config from VMR9 to EVR, the AVIs play fine, but then the MKV files look horrible!
