Ok I'm almost 100% sure this worked previously and I have no idea why it doesn't anymore. When I select VMR9 as my directshow video renderer I get beautiful blacks and colors for MKV files, but when I try to play XVid/AVI files no picture shows up at all, I just get audio. If I change to EVR, I get video fine for XVid/AVI but my MKV files have extremely washed out/grey blacks making the video horrid to watch.

Ideally I'd just like to use VMR9 since it works so good, but I have been searching for nearly 8 hours and cannot figure out why none of my AVIs play correctly with VMR9 selected. I have no idea why that would even affect anything since it's using the same codec either way.

Someone please help, it has to be an easy answer! I did look into making the blacks better with EVR but that seemed impossible or at least extremely complicated to fix, I think finding a solution to the VMR9 issue will be easier (I hope).

Has anyone had this issue and if so how do I fix it? I can play any of these AVI videos just fine in any external player, and like I said if I switch mediaportal config from VMR9 to EVR, the AVIs play fine, but then the MKV files look horrible!

VMR9 is not officially supported on Vista & Windows 7 platforms (by MediaPortal), mainly because we aren't having enough manpower... 1.1.0 will have fixed black levels with ATI HW & EVR.

I see - does the current 1.1.0 beta already have this fixed, and is it stable enough to be wife approved? My wife is out of town for a couple days and I could use the time to install 1.1.0 now (some of my daughter's videos are in XVid and she can't watch them right now). If the issue is fixed and it isn't going to crash on me daily, I'd love to try 1.1.0. Let me know! :) :D

Well I just upgraded to 1.1.0 beta and the new StreamedMP and everything works good, and the blacks in EVR look good now, plus I can play MKV files AND xvid/avi so I think I'm good for now! :) Heres to hoping I won't run across any weird bugs!
