Hi!

I have problems with brightness and contrast adjustements and I hope someone can help me.

I have installed MP 1.1.0 RC2 + CoreAVC.

When I play a HD Movie (.mkv H264) I can see the film perfectly after adjusting levels of brightness and contrast through "CoreAVC Configuration".

Nevertheless, when I play a SD Movie (.avi XVid or DivX) I see the film very dark and I don't know where I can change the brightness and contrast for this type of files.

Can someone help me? I don't want to change the TV Settings or my Windows Settings because my desktop looks fine and the HD Movies look fine, too.

Thanks in advance!

Which codec is used to play these filetypes, use graphstudio\graphedit for this (google)

Start MP, the go to windowed mode (alt-enter), play video, start one of the above, then choose connect to remote graph, once you tell us which codec is being used the we can tell you how to adjust.

If using Xvid\Divx\FFDShow, these have pretty much self explanatary options in their config utility.

    Thanks, Paranoid Delusion

I will see it when I arrive home.

Nevertheless, I haven't installed any Xvid/Divx codec (I only installed CoreAVC codec), therefore, it have to use some codec embebed into Mediaportal (FFDShow?).

If I don't have installed any codec, what does the Mediaportal use to play SD movies? Where can it be configured?

    Hi,

I haven't been able to run graphedit like you say to me.

If I run Mediaportal and play an avi file, when I run graphedit and I go to "File" and "Connect to remote graph" I get this snapshot:
    snapshotb.jpg

When I click at "Connect" the graphedit doesn't make anything.

If I open the avi file directly from Graphedit, I get the next graph: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
If graphedit runs the avi file I can see it correctly (with the correct brightness and contrast).

In Mediaportal configuration I have selected EVR option. I have a Windows 7 64-bit. It worked fine at the same operating system before formating 7 days ago.

If I play the same avi file in Windows Media, I have a wrong brithtness and contrast too. If I execute Graphedit while Windows Media is playing the avi file I can't see anything at "Connect window" of Graphedit.

I hope you can help me.

Thanks again! and sorry for my English.

Can you try something easy, because I'm running Win7 64 myself, with nothing extra installed than the haali splitter.

If these files play fine in WMP, then I suggest tryng to put one in a mkv container, use mkvmerge (part of mkvtoolnix) to do this, takes 30 - 50 seconds, now try accessing that file and see how it plays, do you get any better contrast.

No, sorry, perhaps I don't have explained correctly. With WMP I have the same problem with brightness and contrast as in MP.

I had already thought about rename files changing .avi extension by .mkv but if I have to do this everytime is crazy, do not you think?

    Anyway, I will test it.

files ending .avi really do not work well with windows, mkv overcomes this, thats why ALL my movie\video files are in the mkv container, just renaming to ,mkv does not completely solve problem, thats why I suggested mkvmerge.

Muxing took 21 seconds. No Warnings and No errors, but the brightness and contrast continue WRONG :(

According to mkvmerge, the video is XVID.

I can't understand why before I was able to see this files correctly and now I can't. A problem of new release of Mediaportal? Before I had MP 1.1.0 RC1 and now RC2.

I'm desperate. Luckily I can see HD files correctly.

    Thanks, Paranoid!

Windows uses the DMO filter to play xvid\divx, really did not want to suggest installing other codec, but I think there may not be much choice.

Both the Divx and xvid codecs have brightness\contrast settings, which one is better, having used both, I have never seen any difference.

    Ok, Paranoid Delusion.

I will download the Xvid codec.

I have a last question. How or Where can I configure Windows to use the Xvid codec instead of the DMO filter?

If I achieve to change it, I suppose that both MP and WMP will play my AVI files with XVID codec, right?

    Thanks again, Paranoid!
