Sorry i've posted 3 topics within a short period, I've told you all i've had this problem for a while but i've written down everything that comes up on the BSOD:

A problem has been detected blah blah blah

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

blah blah blah

Technical Information

*** STOP: 0x0000000A [0x00000054, 0x000000002, 0x00000001, 0x804DC23D]

It usually happens once MP menu loads, as soon as the menu comes up this error is displayed, if i press CTRL + ALT + DEL as Windows starts and close MP before its loaded then the error doesn't display. How do i stop it happening?

It is most likely to be caused by faulty hardware or a dodgy driver - here's a Microsoft article with some suggestions ...

It is highly unlikely to be MediaPortal causing the BSOD - it is just that MediaPortal is triggering the faulty component.

I also was getting this (various errors blaming components, but the consistent one was the IRQL one) after resuming from standby, what seems to have cured mine was installing the latest version of DX9.

As this was the only update I had done (it came with a new game) and said as it was newer to overwrite existing files, was quite amazed that it stopped my errors on standby.

By the way does this happen in hibernate, as not one error when using this.

Worth trying anyway, not going to break anything.

i've taken the My TV function off Media Portal and so far, fingers crossed, seems to be working fine. which suggests a problem with the TV Tuner or MP communicating together. or, maybe DirectX as the TV Tuner uses DirectShow[i think?] so might try downloading the latest[well, latest DX9 lol].
